BFT Golf Classic Recap.

Thanks

The 8th Annual BFT Golf Classic was held over probably the hottest weekend of 2010.  With the heat index reaching 114 on Saturday keeping the water cold and the grips dry was more important than draining birdies.  Thanks to all of the participants as well as our sponsors for their contributions.  Thank you to the tournament committee members who helped make this year's tournament what it was.  Scotfield Country Club played host to this year's event and definitely welcomed the BFT with open arms.

Despite the heat we had another successful BFT

Friday night's Glow Ball went off without a hitch.  With the almost full moon, not one single cart ventured across a tee box which pleased BFT veteran, Tim Wilson.  When asked how his glow ball round went, Tim said, "It was tough out there tonight.  We were tuned into our game, but not being able to take my cart up on the tee-boxes probably cost me the par 3 this year."  28 golfers of all skill began the glow ball challenge and 34 finished.  Not sure how that math adds up but so goes the BFT.  With a score of -3, the team of Justin Long and Keith Jernigan took home the Glow Ball hardware this year.  When asked about his switch of playing partners at the last minute Long said, "I knew Keith was going to be the key to victory.  Anyone that looses his clubs and goes with his wife's set the day of any tournament and is not hesitant about it....that's a guy on his game."    When all of the scorecards came in there was no doubt, this glow ball golf is a challenge....just ask the team of Willard and Britt.

Saturday's Shotgun Tournament with 48 golfers, again, brought about a new BFT Champion.  Panella Ice, Drew McQueen, Matt Nance and Dan Wilson finally took home the BFT Cup after being so close in years past.  Their score of -14 led a host of teams at -12.  Dan Wilson stuck a ball within inches on the dreaded par 3, 3rd hole to secure the Cup and knock out Tim Wilson's closest to the  pin.

BFT 8 Champs with the Russell Bass Trophy                      2nd Flight Champs English, English, Patton, & Patton

Thanks again to everyone who made this BFT Golf Classic a great weekend.  With the help of our sponsors and donors we had some great raffle and silent auction prizes.  These additions helped bring in another $600 which we would not have had otherwise.  There are a few checks still out there but we should be writing a check to Edgecombe County Hospice for $2,500.  See you all next year.
